Don Wright ’81: Some Old Seventies Fun

“Some of my favorite memories are Frank Lynch ‘82 involved in some old seventies fun where the pledges got into the fireplace and were made to laugh as punishment and our pledge bolt to UVA.

I still keep in touch with Bill Bradly ’81 and Chuck Rabolli ‘78 who live in Birmingham, Dave Smith ’82, who lives in Minnesota, Rand Ruland ‘81 whose in Charlotte and Kevin Mckee ‘82 and Albert Berardocco ‘82, who live in the Philadelphia area and Frank Lynch ‘81 in Colorado.

I have been selling capital medical equipment since 1987. In 2000 I started a medical equipment distribution business that currently employs 23 people and I opened my first medical clinic in 2015 and opened my second this year.

I have three kids, all of whom have attended or are attending the University of Georgia, which is convenient since we live in Athens GA. We enjoy traveling, hiking, camping, and mountain biking. Our adventures this year include a week-long kayak trip down the Ogeechee River (called Paddle GA) with 450 other kayak enthusiasts, a trip to Yellowstone and Grand Tetons National Parks and a trip to Cancun.  We officially became empty nesters last year when our youngest went off to college, but our home is still pretty much a revolving door depending on the time of year. My wife of 33 years works in the business as our Operations Director, which tends to keep things interesting. We plan on retiring in 2064!
