Mike Hendrickson ’96- “Come Say Hello!”

We recently caught up with Skull Brother Mike Hendrickson ’96. He writes:

“Following graduation, I commissioned as a Marine Officer in December 1998. I was assigned as Platoon Commander for Company B, 1st Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion at Camp Pendleton, California. In July 2001, I boarded the USS Comstock and sailed to the Western Pacific with the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit.

Following the events of September 11, 2001, Company B conducted operations during Operation Enduring Freedom, including the seizure of the Kandahar International Airport. In 2006, I left active service, but returned to Afghanistan in 2010 as Operations Officer of 3rd Battalion, 25th Marines. In 2012, I was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel. Currently, I am the Commanding Officer of 1st Battalion, 25th Marines, 4th Marine Division, Marine Forces Reserve.

In civilian life, I worked at Penn State University’s applied research lab from 2006-2015. Last year, two partners and I founded BlueWhiteTV.com; a start-up online digital content delivery service for the Penn State community. The company is the first video-on-demand network dedicated exclusively to Penn State content. BlueWhiteTV is located just down the street from the Skull house on the corner of Pugh St. and Beaver Ave.

The company employs about 10 students who develop, produce and promote their content. The company is in the process of launching it’s first app and membership is free to all PSU students. BlueWhiteTV features content that highlights Penn State, Happy Valley through original programming, documentary and feature length films. It’s flagship program, the Obligatory Pre-Game Show features Brandon Nobel and Mike the Mailman. Please check out the website and sign up! Membership is only $10.99 for the year.
